Plain English version: use HolyShit.app to find toilets. Don't do anything dodgy with it. The data is our best effort but we can't guarantee every facility will be open when you arrive. We're not responsible if nature calls and we let you down.
HolyShit.app is a free, community-assisted toilet and facility finder for Australia. It is operated by UPD8 Group Pty Ltd, a Canberra-based software company. The app helps people locate nearby toilets, service stations, fast food venues and other facilities with accessible bathrooms.
The app is free to use and requires no account or registration.
We built HolyShit.app because finding a toilet when you actually need one — mid-run, on a road trip, with kids in tow, in an unfamiliar suburb — is genuinely hard. Existing tools are buried in government websites or require searching through Google Maps one by one.
We wanted something fast, honest and built for the moment. So we built it ourselves.
Our facility data comes from multiple sources including the Australian Government's public toilet dataset, OpenStreetMap contributors, and community reports submitted through the app.
Facilities change — they close, get renovated, change hours. If you find incorrect information, please use the Report button in the app to let us know. Your reports directly improve the experience for everyone.
You may use HolyShit.app for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:
When you submit a condition report via the app, you grant UPD8 Group a licence to use that information to improve the app and its data. Reports should be honest and accurate. Don't submit reports about facilities you haven't visited.
HolyShit.app is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, UPD8 Group Pty Ltd is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to reliance on inaccurate facility data.
If a listed toilet turns out to be locked, we're sorry. We've all been there.
The HolyShit.app name, logo, design and original code are owned by UPD8 Group Pty Ltd. Facility data derived from OpenStreetMap is used under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). Australian Government toilet data is used under Creative Commons Attribution.
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms. We'll update the date at the top when we do.
